Similar to my previous visit. It tasted pretty much the same. Somehow, the skin tasted a bit weird today. Like overnight frying oil.
SFCC, IOI Mall New Wing

... the name was Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato. Yup, it doesn't have a proper name. Mainly just named after the ingredients.
Rating: 6.5/10
My sandwich with added cheese was quite fulfilling. CTSW called for coffee break and I skipped my dinner, eagerly looking forward for a cup of my favourite XM. By the time I reach the place, I was already hungry and I can’t help by had to order 1 of the sandwiches there. I had the Club Sandwich before, which was quite good. Now I wanna try something different instead. Though the bacon was not sauteed until crisp as how I’d like it to be, it still taste good on itself. Reminds me of hams.
Next time I’ll try something different instead…
Rasa Mas, Carrefour Subang Jaya

... the mocha came with butter shortbread, which tasted quite good.

... had a set of chicken with 2 sidelines. Changed the chicken to ayam percik instead, as recommended by ALGJ.
Rating: 6/10
The mocha was disappointing but the butter shortbread that was given was quite good. Quite nice when you dip it into the lousy mocha. But after you’ve finished the cookie, you have to find ways to finish the drink instead. Mine was effortless, cause TSL was being naughty, hence she has to finish up the drink instead of me. lol
I guess the food here wasn’t all that bad, though I’m not big fan of Ayamas. The chicken was tender and not too hard. Nicely marinated as the meat was salty as well. Despite that, my ayam percik thigh seems a lot a lot drier than ALGJ’s ayam percik’s breast meat. What’s with the QC in this place? At only RM8.90 with 2 side lines of coleslaw and fries, I guess I can’t complain so much as Nando’s almost double this price.
Ria Cafe, Lembah Subang

... grass jelly that came with the set.

... the soup contains glass noodle (冬粉).

... frankly speaking, I was in a dilemma to rate this nasi lemak.
Rating: 5.5/10
At first, we were heading to Bamboo Cafe. Before we reach our destination, there were many newly opened eateries in the area. So we stopped by 1 of them. Ria Cafe was similar to most kopitiam from the outside. I guess the menu was quite the same as well, where you can get your coffee and toasts. PCL had the Penang Fried Kuey Teow set, which I had my eyes on. Hence I went with the nasi lemak set instead. Our sets cost us RM10 each, which came with a drink, a soup, main course and dessert (fruits).
The nasi lemak, the rice was yellowish. Reminds me of Hainanese chicken rice. Not quite lemak as I expect. Somehow, the sambal was quite nice. The anchovies were fried till crispy. Probably 1 of the most crispy one I’ve had. PCL can’t stop picking on them, discretely, yet quite obvious. Though I didn’t finish up all the anchovies, as nasi lemak always remind me of my strict diet. Something which I’ve failed to observe over the time…

Chinese Muslim, USJ9

... while waiting for food to be served. These classic China you won't see at the food court outlets.

... Qing Hai style noodle with chicken.

... stir fried mutton, which was quite spicy.

... Xin Jiang style noodle, which seemed more appetizing than the one I had last time @ Carrefour.
Rating: 5.5/10
Finally, today I managed to try the more “genuine” Xin Jiang style noodle. As opposed to the one I had in Carrefour, which turns out to be overly soupy. The gravy in this Xin Jiang style noodle was more toward sourish, nothing like padprik at all. I like this one better as the noodle was better too, not oily feel as I had from Carrefour outlet.
The stir fried mutton was quite disappointing. Aside from not tasting like mutton, it was damn sinewy as well. After a few chew, it tasted like there was bloody stink in it. I don’t like it.
As for the Qing Hai style noodle, the gravy used was different, though the colour was quite similar.

Chili’s Bar & Grill, 1 Utama New Wing
Today EL asked for shopping so that he could buy his CNY clothes. By the time we reach 1Utama, it was already lunch time. While we were unable to decide on what to eat, I suggested Chili’s on a whim. Manatau, EL never had Chili’s before, thus we went on ahead.
Since it was EL’s first time, I suggested to him to try their lamb grill, which was really good. He was eyeing on the ribeye steak instead. But the price for it probably put him off. Besides, I wasn’t hungry at the moment as I had breakfast earlier. So I told him let’s order a main course and something else lighter. Hence the Cajun Club Sandwich came into view.

... I was surprised to find Esprit drinks on the menu. Unfortunately they don't have Passion Fruit. Though it cost less than RM8 excl tax and service charge.

... seeing that we were sharing the main course, I suggested that we order a Cajun Club Sandwich as well.

Rating: 5.5/10
Our medium rare grilled lamb was rather raw. Though the outside was cooked, but big portion of the meat slab was raw right in the centre. Perhaps I should have opted for 3-quarter done. Somehow, I do recall my medium rare lamb shoulder was perfect. Anyway, despite being raw on the inside, the lamb was quite tasty. Thought it wasn’t as juicy as a ribeye. At the same time, it was quite sinewy. The menu stated that it would be served with black pepper gravy. Somehow, I don’t see any gravy on the plate. Anyway, we can’t finish the slab of meat, which was quite big. Perhaps I should just stick to lamb shoulder next time. The mash potato was excellent. DC gonna love it!
Our sandwich was acceptable. The cheese wasn’t the kind of cheddar slice cheese that you can get from supermarket. It was shaved from a big chunk of cheese slab. The fries were damn nice. Probably the best fries I’ve had in the year.
Restoran Wong Kee, Pudu

... 2 strips of roasted pork, each costing RM13.50.
Rating: 8/10
Brought ALGJ to try out the best roasted pork in town. I wasn’t too sure if the place was open or not because it was Sunday. Our chance was 50-50. Based on my last visit, the place should be closed on today. Anyway, we went to give it a shot after our stroll in Berjaya Times Square.
Similar to my previous visits, the taste was pretty much the same. Which was a good thing cause I was here to have some good roasted pork. Though we were quite late (it was already 1pm+), but there were still a few pieces of roasted pork hanging up. I guess Sunday is just a quiet day for them. No wonder they opens every fortnight for Sunday.
Please check my previous experience for more details.
Siu Chao @ DoReMi, Ara Damansara
Went to DoReMi for dinner with AC. This time he finally has the chance to try the fried flat noodle at the siu chao stall.

... honey sweet potato and normal sweet potato.

... both has yellowish inside with the honey one more yellowish.
Rating: 6/10
Coincidently, the fried chestnut and sweet potato little lorry was stopping right in front of DoReMi. I decided to try the sweet potatoes as I usually don’t eat these snacks. Since there’s an extra mouth to help eat them, I went ahead and bought a normal sweet potato and a honey sweet potato.
AC seems to like them as the sweet potato wasn’t dry, as he mentioned. As for me, I haven’t had them for ages. Pretty nice as the skin wasn’t too difficult to peel. Though most of the meat was sticking to the skin. The honey one was easier to peel. But it was no as moisture as the normal one. Though this was a little more sweet than the normal sweet potato. At the same time, I find it too sweet. So I’d rather go with the sweet potato next time.
Rating: 7.5/10
The first time I had this, it was amazing. The steam was billowing up to my face and it has very good aroma. The fried flat noodle wasn’t too dry as well. Despite being dry fried, it was very moisture and rather oily. But it was nice. Nicer than the too dry fried flat noodle from Taman Paramount. Together with the jalapeno, it reminds me of the fried flat noodle from my hometown, which I missed very much.
This is probably the best fried flat noodle in town. Will keep my options opened for something better if I ever encounter any, while AC said, “just enjoy the best that you’ve found and don’t bother about hunting…”
Chinese Muslim @ Cili Padi Food Court, Carrefour Subang Jaya
The first time I tried this food was at the shop itself in USJ9. It was (highly) recommended by EL and AT. Instead of having beef noodle, I had the mutton soup noodle instead. EL recommend me to try the Xin Jiang’s style noodle, but it was cost RM10. I was reluctant at first. Later I found out that there were outlets in many other places, one of them being in Carrefour Subang Jaya.
Hence I recommended this to Kuma tonight, after our little shopping spree in Carrefour.

... Xin Jiang's style beef noodle. Soaked in gravy.

... Kuma's beef noodle soup.
Rating: 4.5/10
The gravy has a layer of oil on it, which sorta killed my appetite. I was reluctant on the taste of the gravy at first. Somehow, I find that it tasted like paprik’s gravy, except for the colour of it. The noodle was handmade, it has no hint of alkaline in it. Though I preferred the noodle from the shop, which was not as soft as the one here. The beef cutlets were very sinewy. I expected them to be much better. Along the way of eating, Kuma was complaining that her soup was very oily.
Perhaps I’ll give Xin Jiang’s style noodle another try at the shop. It might have been done much better.
PS: The whole food court was smelling rather foul. It was 1 of the reasons my appetite was killed.
Nando’s Chickenland, Subang Parade
Chinese New Year is around the corner. I guess Nando’s also can’t missed out on the opportunity to make more money. They introduced the Chick Sang, which was practically similar to the Chinese dish, “low sung” (糅生).

... the Chick Sang (should be pronounced as "sung") doesn't mean the chicken could sing.
Rating: 5/10
Instead of salmon, the meat was replaced with chicken cutlets, which were tinier than the gold you can dig from your nostrils. Pomelo pieces were replaced with orange pieces, which tasted rotten to me. I guess it was mixed with Hot Peri-Peri sauce as well because it was a tad spicy in it. Taste was, it was acceptable to me, but TSL preferred the original Chinese style “low sung”. But I preferred this instead. Or perhaps I’d prefer the original one with Peri-Peri sauce. It was worth a try, but not worth the second coming.
Continue to the aftermath . . .
