Sweet Cherries

Posted: 2008-07-29 by W in Eat, Halal, Vegetarian

After my lunch, I went to buy some fruits. These sweet cherries cost around RM6 for 100 grams.

… they are sweet, but a little costly though.

Rating: 5/10

Lesson of the day: Good stuff doesn’t always guarantee you high ratings, because of steep pricing.

After trying the mushroom cheese flavour, I opened up the 2nd packet, a couple of days after that.

… the same plain white packaging, with only some block printing of the flavouring. Anyway, even if it printed something else, I wouldn’t be able to differentiate it.

… the sinking island of mushroom soup powder.

… I put only half cup of hot water this time, hoping that it would be less runny and would have a nicer texture to it. Accompanied with 2 sticks of Dan Hua biscuits.

Rating: 6.5/10

It was extremely salty soup, due to the lacked of water. It wasn’t thicker at all. Ended up, I poured in extra hot water to it. Anyway, it tasted almost the same, if not the same, as the previous packet of mushroom cheese. I really wonder what were Ajinomoto thinking.

Lunch @ PD

My company’s Group IT was having an IT Escapade event to Port Dickson. I supposed it is something similar to team building. In the morning, we had to run around playing games like the Amazing Race, finding clues and answering questions, solving missions in a team. After the exhausting games, we were gathered at Tiara Beach Convention Hall for debriefing and prize giving.

We were served buffet lunch as well as free flow of drinks and ABC‘s there. Everyone was eagerly waiting for the big shot to announce the important message *cough* “Start eating” *cough* while waiting for the speech to end.

… I was very hungry at that time and I’ve only managed to snap a photo of my self-made ABC. Filled with red beans, black jelly, green jelly, red jelly, you name it. Very little ice only because the bowl was practically filled with those condiments and no space for shaved ice anymore.

Rating: 6/10

The food was quite ok, but the queue was madness! Imagine 300 plus of people all rushing for the food! I think the waiters and waitresses were all overwhelmed by us stampeding hungry zombies from the Group IT! Haha!

Today, I went to my favourite nasi lemak stall. I haven’t been visiting the guy for a very long time, due to the high cholesterol and uric content of the pack of nasi lemak, I had to hold back on eating it every morning. Since I’ve regulate (reduced) my eating habits on the nasi lemak, I decided to pay him a visit this morning.

… a plain nasi lemak with hard boiled egg.

Rating: 7/10

This nasi lemak used to be rated 8.5 onward about 2 years ago. It was so nice that I would purposely wake up very early in the morning, buy a pack and go eat in my office’s canteen. He went for a long break of absence, somewhere in the year end of 2005. After about 3 months, he resurface, but the taste wasn’t the same anymore. It just lacked the kick in it. But if you are looking for nasi lemak with white squids, this is the place to go for as this is the only nasi lemak stall that I know that has white squids.

Today, I didn’t feel hungry even it was already lunch time. But I decided to take a look at NZX with my colleague to see if there is any new shops that just opened that we didn’t know of. After a while of walking and disappointment, we went for Big Apple donuts. After the light snacks, we proceed to Hollys Coffee, because we didn’t order any drinks at Big Apple.

… I had a Sweet Potato Macchiato and my colleague had a cafe latte.

… she tried to draw a graffiti on her cup of her latte, like how it was on her cappuccino last time.

Rating: 7/10

Sweet Potato Macchiato was just weird. I didn’t know Korean has such peculiar taste for their coffee. Nevertheless, I had fun chit chatting where I don’t have to focus too much on trying to drink my cup of Sweet Potato Macchiato.

My colleagues gave me 2 packets of instant mushroom soup of different flavour, a couple of days ago. Today, I’m trying the mushroom cheese flavour.

… Ajinomoto brand. No wonder she so supportive. It was her previous company.

… we’ve got 4 floaters!

… after you stir it, it still looked the same as unstirred.

… and plenty plenty of butter coconut biscuits.

Rating: 6.5/10

The soup smells quite good but it was runny though. Despite that it looked runny, it was quite salty. Not sure if it was caused by the cheese, but if any more water to be added, I don’t think it would be nice, except that the taste would be corrected. There were even some dried vege that you can chew on. The presence of cheese was not detected, or it was too faint for my tongue. If I was blindfolded, I’d definitely wouldn’t guess that it has contains cheese in it.

Pretty good drink, but do remember to flush them down later on with a lot of water, because it was really really salty.

Butter Coconut Biscuits

Good biscuits and cookies are hard to come by, let alone finding 1 that’s your own favourite. I was lucky enough to be able to find this. It was about 8 years back when I first tasted this biscuits. I fell in love with it. It’s nothing premium. In fact, it was quite cheap, but it just taste too good for me to stop eating.

… 20 packs, thanks to my friend’s help for buying it for me.

Rating: 8/10

It’s near full rating, but it’s not. If you had too much, your tongue tend to be coarse. Do drink a lot of water after eating. A pack contains at least 20 to 22 pieces, depending on the packaging. QC was bad actually. I had a few packs that were a little overcooked. Very cheap, at only RM1.50 per pack.

Anyway, my colleague has been stealing my biscuits because he just can’t stop eating.
