PG begged me for lunch today, sort of, because he was in Toyota waiting for his car to be serviced. Something which took him a whole day. Since I’m so nice, so I decided to pick him up from there and let him join my colleagues for lunch. At first, I thought I’d only get a few people from my side and go for lunch, later it turns out that there were 9 of us in a total of 2 cars, hogging this place. This was the first time I’ve been here with such large group of people.

This was downright the worst yong tau fu I’ve ever tasted. The chilli sauce was nothing and the sweet sauce was bad too. The bean curd skin with fish ball was bad too. Don’t even get me started on the soup. The bad ass-ness of this was comparable to the chee cheong fun stall in SS2 by the road side. They were both probably operated by the same people or relatives to each other.

I was glad my plate of fried kuey teow was rather nice today. Despite the egg yolk was punctured, as usual. ALGJ got a bad copy as she got her plate of fried kuey teow much earlier than me. I let her tasted mine, she said mine was better, while hers and LGFL’s copy was charred badly. I thought the fried kuey teow fat lady has finally got her act together by keeping up with her consistency. I guess she still flops once a while. Fortunately, she doesn’t flop on my plate. Kudos!

Fried bean curd was nothing to shout about. The taste was mediocre. The good thing was, the fillings didn’t spill out as I pick it up with my chopsticks. Unlike some fried bean curd place, they put mines in it. Once you had your chopsticks over it, the fillings will explode right onto your face. The same sweet sauce was used on the rojak as well. It was lacking in the prawn paste taste that I preferred. The crackers were nearly non-existence. Too precious to give more, perhaps.

I’ve finally have the chance to try out the YTF here, which was very much talked about, at least by HL. The last 2 times I came, the place was closed. Both CSK and SKWS told me that the rojak was nice, even before I reach there. So SKWS was courteous enough to place the order on rojak once we sat down. While HL was salivating over the steamed peanuts.

The peanuts were ok but I preferred those from Tai Thong. HL said those were soya sauced peanuts while these were steamed peanuts. To me, both were steamed except Tai Thong’s have a little personal touch to it, to add in more flavours. Else how could they get to be so fat?

Then came the rojak. Despite all the hypes, it was rather mediocre. It tasted a little like vegetarian rojak I had in Organic Vegetarian Fresh Mart & Restaurant. The prawn paste was not that prominent in taste. After about 15 minutes to it, the paste starts to turn watery. I guess the rojak in DoReMi was just as good.

As to the YTF, aside from the enormous size of the ding dong bitter gourd YTF, others were just mediocre. I was expecting the fried bean curd skin to be in rectangular shapes, but the one we were served was rolled up into cylindrical shape. HL said, only the one in Puchong serves rectangular fried bean curd skin YTF. I beg to differ. So far as I recall, this was probably the only place that serves cylindrical shaped fried bean curd skin, which I’ve had my whole life. I don’t like it because it can’t put out the full potential of fried bean curd skin.

Lastly, the sauces were not nice either. I’d anytime go for the Puchong’s YTF anytime, just for the sauce with mix of jalapeno in it, which was heavenly.

HGY recommended this place to me some time ago, She can’t remember the name but instead gave me a link to it. Based on the road instructions given on the website, I managed to extrapolate the location of the restaurant and set my GPS POI. Finally, I managed to give it a try because my colleagues and I were in Jalan Ipoh.

My conclusion would be, the taste were rather mild. Not too salty or too tasteless in flavour. Pretty average that gave you the feeling of healthy in the flavour department. Firstly, the belacan vege. It lacked the little shrimps in it. I don’t have complains on that because I can’t eat them anyway. But I’ve had better belacan style vege though. Yet DL was complaining that Canton Fare‘s belacan style water spinach was lacked of little shrimps. Wait till he try this one here.

Then, to the fried stuff. The fried bean curd skin was really nice. The crispy skin and the pretty tasteless fish paste in it. And the crispy skin… have I mentioned crispy skin already? The other item which people used it to play the Tower of Hanoi was pretty tasteless too. I can’t make out what was in it actually. The stir-fry roasted pork was nice. Though it wasn’t how I expected it to be, like BBQ pork. It was good in its way and the skin was still very crispy. Just that I don’t really taste anything roasted pork in it at all. There were plenty of jalapeno used but the whole dish was not spicy at all. I wondered if those chopped up jalapeno were for show only.

The crystal bean curd was acceptable. I like the sauce in it, though the rest of them do not like it that much. But it turns out not so good when it was cold. I guess I’m turning into a vegan soon as I find it nice, especially the sauce. God forbids what’s in the sauce, I hope it wasn’t mushroom sauce, else there goes my strict diet. Lastly, it was the fish. I guess it was the best on the table. The fish was fresh and it doesn’t have bad smell to it. Though the teochew style sauce could use a little more sour plums because it wasn’t sour at all unless I suck on the sour plums on the plate.

Lastly, we were given a plate of complimentary fruits. The bill came up to RM90 for 4 pax. Pretty reasonable. I might go there again perhaps, mainly because the fish was nice and the place wasn’t that hot, thanks to the sprinkler idea.

We woke up damn early for the dim sum breakfast. I thought we were going Ming Court, but ended up in Foh San instead. So I’m not gonna write much about it as I’ve been here before not long ago.

Since I had to watch my strict diet, I was holding back on being glutton. I only tried to eat stuff that I feel like eating and only 1 piece of each. Nothing to shout about, the garlic chili sauce remained as good. Though there was this glutinous rice, which was pretty good where the rice was sweet in taste.
