My sister was meeting a friend today in Klang. Unfortunately, the meeting place is in Jusco Bukit Tinggi. I was asking her why isn’t her friend that bring us around to eat, as Klang has many nice food to eat. While we were stranded in Jusco, we couldn’t decided what to have. I saw Kinsahi on the directory and suggested it to them. My sister was ok while my brother-in-law was hesitant. Then I proposed that I’ll buy them this round, besides I wanna try out this new Japanese restaurant in town.

At F11 in Jusco, it wasn’t an easy task to locate the store, because it was located quite far from the escalator I was at. Anyway, when I reached there, I notice Boston was just opposite the restaurant. The store front has nice decoration on it while like most Japanese restaurant, menus were placed on the pedestal for patrons to have a look. Upon checking the price, it’s definitely a no-kidding price tag. Anyway, we went on ahead with it as I can’t think of other alternative.

Firstly, before we were seated, a bowl of egg wasabi mayo was placed on our table by the waitress. She was so fast that I didn’t even notice it until I’ve sat down comfortably. Unfortunately, not what I though, the bowl of egg wasabi mayo was not complimentary. It cost RM5, which is outrageous. My next quip would be the condiments. A saucer of soya sauce each was fine but only a saucer of a small dallop of wasabi to share amongst us. They thought their wasabi was that precious? Fresh horseradish like Senjyu’s?

I had a scoop of the garlic fried rice. Despite lacking the strong garlic fragrance, which I preferred, it was nicely taste. Salted just at the right volume. The Kimuchi Ramen was not bad, especially the soup. But that kind of noodle, you could probably get it in the shopping mall.

My soft shell crab temaki was a disappointment at first. It cost RM9 each and the size of the crab wasn’t enormous. It was small and skinny as well, as if it came from Africa. After eating it, I realised the ebiko ran all the way down the the bottom of the temaki, it was a lot actually. But I still prefer Don Sushi’s temaki anytime over this. Cheaper price with more meat. Both the kakiage and potato koroke were nothing to shout about. But I had a complain on the potato, which was tasteless and lacked of potate taste at all. It’s like eating potato powder with water.

Soft shell crab tempura was plain normal. One thing about it though, it wasn’t very salty like most soft shell crabs I had in Japanese restaurants. It was lacking of saltiness even. Special unagi maki was nothing special. Unagi was quite tasteless actually. Somehow, what I had today was pretty tasteless. Then the okonomiyaki was served. It has plenty of katsuobushi. Way too many actually. My niece was blowing at it because she saw them dancing by themselves. Aside from the generous amount of katsuobushi, the content of the okonomiyaki was nice too. It has no noodle, but lavish with prawns and squids. It tasted good too.

Finally, the waiter was kind enough to offer me a membership registration as it only cost me RM12, whereby my meal has already exceeded RM130. With the membership card, I can get 10% off the bill. I went on ahead with it. After I’ve paid the bill, we were only given the toothpick, which was quite… late.

Went to dinner with HL, KUMA. Then DC, whom already has dinner earlier with NAP, tagged along as well. He said want to eat a little bit, because it was on company’s expenses.

Despite not having envelope for the chopsticks, this place remained as 1 of the most expensive Japanese restaurant I’ve been to. I guess it’s because they don’t bother to get Halal certifications and been serving porks like mad.

The previous statement was a joke. The more plausible reason would be that it serves authentic Japanese dishes. You could see a lot of Japanese people frequent that place, day and night. Aside from that, the premium stuff are written on a piece of small blackboard. They were written in Japanese words and phonetic pronunciations. Making it pretty useless for non Japanese speaking/reading people, because it lacked the English equivalent names for the items.

Amongst all the stuff there, I guess the best would be the dish called Popai The Potato. Despite being a bastard (unwanted, or by accident) dish, it turns out to be the best thing for the night. We were busy picking on it and I can’t stop eating it. It has bacon in it, which made the whole vege thing tasted so damn good and the fragrance was overkilling too. We were busy guessing what was that item, because we didn’t order it. Only to find out later when we get our bill.

The sake was moderate. Nothing to shout about. I asked HL to get a warm sake, as sake is best served warm. But instead, it was being served cold. The bottle has a “鬼” (ghost) word on it. Perhaps it’s best serves cold. When we were leaving, KUMA found another bottle with the word “神” (god) on it. Now I know which has to be served hot.

As for the cod fish, it was pretty nice. The gravy in it was very tasty, just that a tad too salty. The fish meat has only a little hint of milky-ness (as how I like to call it) but it wasn’t as fresh as I thought it would be. That 2 pieces cost around RM35 – RM40.

PS: Popai The Potato was really damn good. I just couldn’t stress enough of it!
