I was there early expecting to have a plate of satisfying nasi lemak with nice fried chicken. Unfortunately, the fried chicken only available from 2pm onward. At least I get to know that the stall opens even during lunch time and even better, there’s fried chicken during lunch, on Saturday.

Came to Hao Wei Dao for lunch today. The RM1/fried rice promotion was still valid. But I had to give it a pass because I don’t really have any appetite today.

Fortunately, today’s honey sea coconut wasn’t too sweet, it was just right. Bacon aglio olio spaghetti was spicy indeed, but it tasted like how it was the first time I had it. Talks about good consistency. Bacon salad wasn’t too bad, though the bacon could’ve been better. I wanted to order the omelette but I was afraid it doesn’t last, like the first time I had, as I was quite hungry already. There was a funny item called the vegetarian omelette. I wonder how could it be vegetarian when it’s an omelette.

I suggested Hao Wei Dao to PCL as we haven’t been there for quite some time already. But there was a surprised for us. We were offered 2 little tags and it has number on it. We were told that we could order the egg fried rice for only RM1 each, with the available tags. The tags only offered for the first 20 customers everyday.

Since we can’t think of anything to order and the fried rice was acceptable for my strict diet, we went ahead with the order.

The fried rice was pretty tasteless. I can’t believe that I could finish it. All thanks to the jalapeno that I get. The rice was not hot and doesn’t give out any nice fragrance like most fried rice. Anyhow, for only RM1 each, I guess I can’t really complain, can I?

Went to Cold Storage today. I was curious as in what new stock did they bring in. Bought back 3 items from there, 2 chocolates and 1 biscuits.

This locally manufactured 72% dark chocolate was a little sweeter than I expected. It was also the 1st time I see a locally made dark chocolate that labels it 72%. I don’t recall if Beryl’s labeled their products with the percentage of cocoa though. I thought it would be bitter as 70% from other brands were pretty bitter already. When I had the first 1, it actually tasted pretty nice, sweetened black, with minimal milk. For 100g of cocoa at RM13.99, I’d expect it to be better. The aftertaste was a bit overkilling. It sorta made my throat a little sore. This is what I call a “bitter aftertaste relationship”. Back to imported goods.

On the other hand, the Dove devilishly dark chocolate hasn’t any percentage label on it. For 150g at RM21.99 of imported goods, it doesn’t really cost that much more as compared to ORVIeN. Probably because this 1 has lesser percentage of cocoa in it. In fact, it was pretty sweet. The content was very truffles-like, which I kinda like. Sweet, soft and powdery cocoa content. If only it has less sugar in it and contains alcohol. It would be really nice!

This tong sui that HL brought back was pretty nice. In fact, it was comparable to the one I had in Canton Fare, which was a similar kind of tong sui. The only set back was, this tong sui was not cold. I didn’t get to ask him where he bought it and for how much. Last I heard he said he was in PJ Old Town.

Today, I came to Restoran Hao Wei Dao with my colleague again. The variety of choices on the menu ease us on deciding the kind of food that we wanted to have, aside from the usual places that we frequent. There is still a long journey ahead in order to try every single item on the menu.

This time, the drink wasn’t too sweet or food weren’t too salty. It was just right. I guess they must have received complains from patrons. The marmite chicken rice was quite nice, though it was really watery. Some people prefer the drier type, but it was ok for me. It even has the hint of marmite in it, the bitterness. Unlike most of the marmite dish I had, they were just sweet.

I had a pretty good impression the previous time I came here. Before I realized it, I’m here again for lunch. This time, I hope I could eat something heavier, because the last time, my stomach started growling when it was just 2 hours after my meal here.

I liked how they serves aglio olio pasta with bacon, but it was way toooooooo salty. If they’d just skip the salt and let the bacon does its job, that plate of pasta would be perfect, aside from the rather harder than usual texture. The bacon strips looked different from what I used to had though. perhaps saute would be better in preparing those bacon. As for the drink though, it was way toooooooo sweet. Perhaps I’ll remind them to go lighter on the sugar and salt.
