When I was served my sizzling noodle, it doesn’t sizzle at all. The noodle was very soft, as if it was over soaked. The sauce on the noodle was nice though. As for the vegetarian popia that I ordered, it was rather unexpected. Reminded me of the sushi from Organic Vegetarian Fresh Mart. All the gratted vegetables as the centre of the roll.

Had a very late lunch today because I was waiting for AC’s call. When he finally calls, it was almost 3pm. Anyway, went to meet him up and have lunch nearby the place. He recommended stuff from the morning market, which apparently most of the stalls were closed. Of course they were, it’s already half way through noon. So we ended up in Medan Selera instead.

Cendol was nice. Aside from it being served on a cup, there were nothing much to complain about. Though I was hoping gula melaka was being used but the brown sugar used wasn’t all bad. The red beans has the roasted fragrance to it. Though it’s a bit too sweet, only a bit. Much much more better than road side’s Indian’s cendol. I’d come back here for a quick fix of cendol whenever I feel like it.

Fruits rojak was acceptable. At least it was better than Jalan Ipoh YTF’s rojak. There were plenty of water spinach in it. The only complain I had was, instead of giving large pieces of crackers, it was served in shattered pieces of crackers, which doesn’t have much tasting to it.

Popia was quite nice, though it lacked the taste of red sweet sauce. It was moist and juicy, with the same crackers used in rojak found in it. Despite it was soft, the fillings don’t fall apart as I pick it up with my chopsticks. I guess the auntie who made this has years of experience in making good popia. I’ve got nothing much to talk about on the fried tofu though. Probably not overly sweetened by the sweet sauce in it, like most fried tofu do.

After having so many sweet stuff, cendol, rojak, popia and the filling in fried tofu were sweet too. I was stuck with either ordering a mee jawa or chicken rice. Mee jawa was more suitable for my strict diet because of the lacked of meat, but I ended up with chicken rice anyway because I wouldn’t want another sweet food.

After our rest in hotel, our next destination was a food court called Aneka Selera. Little did I know, it was called Restoran Kam Wan as well. I guess the restaurant just owned the place and decided to let some competitions join the boat.

Our dinner was a war zone. The photographers were struggling to get a good shot of the food against the hungry zombies that would want to terrorize the presentation of the food. Can’t blame them really, 3 photographers against 5 other very hungry zombies. Anyway, the dinner was a fine one and we had a lot of varieties.

Firstly, the rojak. The sauce was quite nice, but I didn’t manage to pick up much from it except that the sauce was nice. I’ll try it out again on my next visit to Ipoh so that I could have the whole plate all to myself. Then the fried carrot cake was nice too. DL said it has a lot of choi pou (preserved vege) in it that makes the thing salty. Kinda nice but a tad too salty though, those choi pou. I was surprised I get to eat cuttlefish with water spinach that evening. I rarely have it and I was happy because the sauce used was very tasty. I don’t recall having such tasty sauce on similar dish back in KV. I had a piece of the cuttlefish and plenty of water spinach. Hope it doesn’t has the same effect of spinach on my strict diet. Next came the five-spice meat rolls. It was very ordinary, I wouldn’t want to have another plate of it. Probably because I was only picking on those permissible items, such as fried bean curd.

Then came the seafood. Firstly, the fried mantis prawns. DL said, he could eat the big fat thick meat in it. My first impression? The thick batter and barely any meat in it. It was like eating fried powder. It wasn’t even salty. Though at first it smell good, like a junior version of fried squids’ fragrance. Anyway, give me fried squids anytime over these. Nothing beats my favourite mantis prawns. Then the clams were served. I was reluctant to try but since I’ve had a piece of the fried mantis prawn, oh what the hell. I took 1 at first, the clam was meaty, juicy, and not overly cooked. I had a good impression on it until I started chewing it deeper. It was filled with… sand! Oh boy, even the 2nd one also very Sandy cLam. I stopped after that, yet DL was busy milking the juice off each of them. I just can’t take it. I’d rather eat the soda’s bottle if I wanted some silica diet.

When the bamboo clams were served, those hungry zombies raped all the meat off the shells. Fortunately, there were enough for us all. I had one, I almost vomited trying hard to swallow it. The meat was tasteless and the sauce was similar to that of the clams. Very unappetizing, these dick looking clams. Suddenly, a small plate of soft shell crabs were served. It reminded me of those crabs on Pulau Ketam. Since when it was called soft shell crabs? Very crunchy, not salty at all. Would love to have another one but strict diet alarm went off the moment I had my 2nd clam. Lastly, the tilapia was quite nice. The sauce was different and rather nice, fortunately. Too bad, we don’t have rice to go with it.

Finally, after we finished everything, the popia came. Yes, it came late, very late indeed. It was quite good though and quite filling. I’ll remember to get this too if I’m coming here for another visit.
