... pork patty in soup pasta.

Rating: 2/10

Pork patty was something new to me as this is the first time I tasted pork patty from McDonald’s. The patty was mildy peppered, though it has slightly pork smell in it, which was the kind of smell that I don’t like. The patty was served in a bowl full of pasta with soup.

My advice, NEVER EVER try this. It sucks!

My Caramel Latte was surprisingly nice. Now, if I could just have the caramel for my cendol because it has the fragrant like Malacca’s brown sugar syrup. Though the top foam was really thick and rather tasteless. PCL consumed all her bubbly foam.

The Penne Carbonara was good while it’s still hot or warm. Beef bacons, I’ve never had those for so long. My Chicken Cordon Bleu has nice crispy skin, but PCL said the first time she had it in Secret Recipe, it was much better with molten cheese oozing out of the chicken as you cut it. To me, this was good enough, cause my last trial in Secret Recipe was disappointing. I guess I need to go to that particular outlet she visited to get the same taste.

Lastly, the dessert was surprisingly good. Though we weren’t exactly sure how to start or where to start. The right 1 has a scoop of light vanilla ice-cream hidden under the green apple flavoured cream. Some slices, 4 to be exact, of green apple in the center and a mango pudding on the left. The apple cream was damn nice with bits and piece of green apple.

Today, the ladies said gotta go somewhere nice to celebrate NAP’s farewell. At first I suggested either Dragon-i or Canton-i, but NAP (no, he has got nothing to do with slumber) just had them like a couple of days ago straight. When we were on the way there, TSL suddenly thought of the Pasta de Gohan’s clam soup pasta she saw in a food magazine in my car. Then we decided to give Pasts de Gohan a try.

I start off with the clam and prawn pizza. It was pretty nice actually with super thin crust with good fragrance from the cheese. The prawns was fresh and crunchy while the scallops were big. I could eat it plainly with only cheese on top of it. But this piece of UFO cost RM28.80.

I had a sipped of TSL’s clam soup pasta, it was quite nice, a little bit of sweetness of the clams. It’s kinda special too, one of its kind. The last time I tried vongole spaghetti was more than 6 months ago. That vongole spaghetti was very different from this 1 though. This also came with a complimentary soup, which tasted a little like miso soup with plenty of seaweed in it. But for RM24.80 for plain spaghetti and clams, that’s very expensive.

Then I had a bite on NAP’s Wafu Chicken & Mushroom. It was pretty ok, just a tad too oily. I wondered whether those was from the olive oil or some other stuff. It sorta made me feel a bit full though. Never had a chance to try his prawn pilaf though, cause it was like chaos there, for 7 people to sit in a long table having plates flying here and there where hygiene was placed at lowest priority.

Then there’s KUMA’s potato salad toast, which looked really nice and her Potato & Bacon cream. Unfortunately, those bacons weren’t pork, they were beef. So I didn’t bother to give it a try. Suddenly, I missed my Popai the Potato so much.

Finally, on the stuff that I ordered. The RM4.80 canned ginger ale was very costly. The lunch set chicken curry rice with wafu al aglio olio cost me RM18.80. It sounded a lot cheaper than TSL’s clam soup spaghetti. I guess reason being this is the kind of items that rarely interest the patrons, so they decided to put them up for promotion. Fortunately, despite being a plain spaghetti, the taste was still acceptable. But it tasted much better after I put in extra chili powder and grind the pepper in. The curry was sweet as expected, nothing to shout about. The rice used was genuine Japanese rice that I had from ordering curry chicken rice from Japanese restaurant. So, no lacking of ingredients here.

The rest of the stuff I didn’t bother to snap because our table has no more space to sort stuff around. But I was given a plate of Neopolitan to try. It was… not that good. That’s why I never like ordering spaghetti in tomato sauce.

The bill for the lunch cost us RM230.10 for 7 pax. Averaging at around RM33 per pax. Overall, lunch was pretty nice, but the pricing was crazy. The food weren’t exactly Japanese except for a few items as pasta is western while most of the stuff on their menu was consists of pasta. There were many other stuff on the menu as well, such as parfait. It’s another place which is common like PHOP, where you’d need months to try out everything on the menu.

The place was not exactly comfortable and the lighting was pretty bad too. The shop was quite small and the air conditioning was bad. TSL was practically sweating throughout the time, for a person that rarely sweat even if we eat under hot roof. Go figure…

PCL saw this place about a week ago when we passed by while heading back to office. She told me it was something-something Recipe but it wasn’t yet another Secret Recipe outlet. I managed to steal a glance and saw the greenish looking signboard. The word Recipe do looks very much like that from Secret Recipe. Probably designed by the same marketing company.

Anyway, we remembered to stop by today for a lunch break here today. There were tables on the outside and inside of the restaurant. Seeing that it was so bloody hot for the past few days, we decided to just sit on the inside, and hopefully the air conditioning was efficient. Upon sitting down, we were given menus by a waiter and soon the chef came and introduced himself to us. Unfortunately, I couldn’t remember his name. But you can get his name from the pizza delivery box, which was printed in very bold font on the top cover, including his personal contact number.

How were the foods fared? Well, for start, it was a good gesture that the garlic breads were given to us for free. Unfortunately, it was very heavy on butter, making the garlic fragrance became very insignificant. I was loosing my appetite when I was chomping down the 2nd piece. I knew I would definitely have 1 more piece to go. Anyway, I only realised the charred part of the garlic bread when I was having my final piece.

When my Earl Grey tea was served, it was served in Segafredo Zanetti’s tea cup. I was surprised that they were even related, because my previous experience with Segafredo wasn’t a pleasant one. When we both saw the tea cup, we said, “very salty aglio olio spaghetti” together and laughed. Yes, that was what Segafredo serves, very salty aglio olio spaghetti.

The soup was recommended by the chef. PCL nodded when I asked her if it’s was ok to have soup. I’ve got no idea how it looks like until it was served. Then there’s this spicy taste from the soup. At the same time, it tasted like diluted sauce used for making pasta. Fortunately, the aglio olio spaghetti was the best item of them all. Perfectly balanced taste and it was spicy too.

Lastly, our delicious pizza. When I told the waiter that I’d want the Gino’s special pizza. His first response was, “Large, sir?” I was rather disappointed by his response. Did he saw a 3rd or 4th person on our table? How could 2 persons, where 1 of them was just a little girl, finish all the food that we’ve ordered, let alone having another LARGE pizza? I guess they were desperate for business because it was quite empty the time we reached there.

And lastly, the place doesn’t accept credit card. So I had to pay my RM60+ bill with CASH. *sweat*

Went to Restoran Hao Wei Dao today with my colleague for a quick lunch. We needed to go Starbucks later to buy the tumbler at RM10. An anniversary promotional item by Starbucks Coffee.

The spicy aglio olio with mushroom was nice. Something different from what I’d usually have as it has no meat in it. The peanut butter toast, cut into little squares and served with toothpicks. A good idea but probably cost double that of other places. The fries was mediocre though, probably that’s why we can’t finish it.

My friend KCWK was out of prison, literally. The prison being the grip of his wife. So he came look for me for the whole day and went for photo shooting with his newly bought Panasonic LX3 camera. Before we part way, I recommended this place to him as it was just opposite my place, so he wouldn’t have to purposely drive me out for dinner and drive me back home.

... I've got no idea why does the word "Restaurant" placed before the name. It should've been placed after the name, unless it was spelt as "Restoran" as in Bahasa Melayu.

You’d find variety, if not thousands of choices on the menu. This place could have been in the lead of its kind when it comes to choices of food, ranging from Chinese to Western.

Fortunately, the aglio olio linguine I have this time wasn’t too salty. The 4 prawns were big. Remind me of the 4 Heavenly King (四大天王). Unfortunately, the prawns weren’t fresh. It was considered cheap though, costing around RM15 or less, if I remembered correctly. My friend’s seafood spaghetti cost him RM20+ though. He was enjoying it very much and keep saying that he has to bring his wife here to eat.

I didn’t know a prisoner could move the whole prison to the place he desired to be.

I had a pretty good impression the previous time I came here. Before I realized it, I’m here again for lunch. This time, I hope I could eat something heavier, because the last time, my stomach started growling when it was just 2 hours after my meal here.

I liked how they serves aglio olio pasta with bacon, but it was way toooooooo salty. If they’d just skip the salt and let the bacon does its job, that plate of pasta would be perfect, aside from the rather harder than usual texture. The bacon strips looked different from what I used to had though. perhaps saute would be better in preparing those bacon. As for the drink though, it was way toooooooo sweet. Perhaps I’ll remind them to go lighter on the sugar and salt.
