PG was enjoying the view of The Curve Boulevard yesterday when we were at Italiannies. He wanted to experience the same thing again today, hence we went next door of Italiannies, the brother company, TGI Friday’s. PG ordered the ribs while I picked the appetizer.

The appetizer was quite good, though the price was not cheap. While the ribs was interesting, but it was a bit charred/dried. Anyway, I’ve never had beef ribs for eons, I guess once a while makes no harm to my strict diet. The dessert was very sweet though. I thought I could substitute Chili’s molten chocolate cake with this brownies, but I guess I was wrong. Both of use could barely finish it.

Went for Ice Monster for some desserts before we left the place. I was telling him that the mango ice-cream here was superb, tasted like like a real mango. So AC was tempted to try it out.

The mango ice-cream was indeed very mango-ish. There were even fibres in the ice-cream itself. Though I wonder how’s the mango sorbet would be like. AC had the passion fruits. Which was a tad sourish and very sweet. Tasted more like syrup ice-cream than authentic passion fruits ice-cream. I guess the one from Haagen Dazs was just so much better.

After our lunch at Yap Yin, we adjourned to Haagen Dazs in Solaris. KCWK recommended the Affogato to me last time, so I decided to give it a try this time. Instead of the usual vanilla ice cream, I opted for the Choc Choc Chips ice-cream instead.

Apparently, having Affogato with Choc Choc Chips was a bad idea. The bitterness from the espresso has overwhelmed the sweetness from the ice-cream. I guess it would be better served in vanilla or perhaps Belgian Chocolate. My volume of espresso was less than KCWK’s Affogato. I guess the spillage contributed to the less volume, but the differences seemed a lot. His was almost till the top of the cup with the ice-cream inside. Vanilla is more resilient?

We sorta waited, for more than 30 minutes in Baskin-Robbins Mont Kiara. DL said, the people leaving were more than the people entering. After a while waiting, when he turned back to look into the shop, the crowds got heavier. It was then we gave up and proceed to Haagen Dazs. The 31st is always a PITA to visit Baskin-Robbins. Anyway, I never liked Baskin-Robbins anyway.

The vanilla in the Macadamia nut ice-cream was a little bit salty though. Reminded me of the powder milk I used to have when I was little. While my chocolate chips ice-cream was a disappointment. Not because it was bad but they served me a non-chip chocolate chips ice-cream. What a turn off.

After our fights during lunch, we adjourned to Haagen-Dazs lunch. This time, I’ll be the 1 paying the bill, since he got the earlier bill in Canton Fare. It’s so unfair! He suggested to go Baskin-Robbins at first but I told him why not we go Haagen-Dazs instead? I heard from AC that there’s a HD in Solaris too. DL said it’s just across the street. It was good too because I’m not a fan of Baskin-Robbins.

The store was just across the street, about 50 metres from our location. Haagen-Dazs is currently having buffet promotion at RM33.90++ per pax. I tempted DL to go for it. He was worried that he couldn’t wallop that much.

Oh well, next times perhaps. I proceed to check out the new menu on the pedestal. First thing I spotted was the Chocoholic. I pointed to him that I found his favourite. Then I saw the fruit ice-cream. DL said it was passion fruit being used as garnish as show on the menu. Since I’ve never actually had the fruit itself, I thought I’d wanna try it.

I’ve got no idea how would the deco on our ice-creams turn out to be, because the photos on the menu were rather… abstract. But for certain, you’d get what’s describe on the menu. So, do read the text. DL being a chocolate lover, he was super satisfied with his Chocoholic which came with a cone as well. I was glad he does because it’s my treat.

While I sacrificed my Macadamia Nuts over Mango Tango, hoping to get some passion fruits as garnish, I was fairly disappointed. All I got was sliced strawberry and banana! Gosh! And I had to go through the 3-year-old-kid-pointing-at-the-menu-to-order ordeal hoping to get some passion fruits on my plate and all I got was… banana! The staff nodded that I’d get what’s (I swear I was pointing very clearly on the cut up passion fruit) on the menu. Perhaps what he meant was that I could have the menu.

Anyhow, my mango ice-cream wasn’t all bad. It has passion fruits flavour in it. It tasted better than the ordinary mango. The other scoop that I get was chocolate. Plain chocolate without chips in it. Since when did Haagen-Dazs provides plain chocolate ice-cream?

Anyway, the bill came up to RM62+, around the same figure as our lunch’s bill. A decent dessert? Yes! A big YES indeed.

I know this probably sounds gay, anyway…
