... frankly speaking, I was in a dilemma to rate this nasi lemak.

At first, we were heading to Bamboo Cafe. Before we reach our destination, there were many newly opened eateries in the area. So we stopped by 1 of them. Ria Cafe was similar to most kopitiam from the outside. I guess the menu was quite the same as well, where you can get your coffee and toasts. PCL had the Penang Fried Kuey Teow set, which I had my eyes on. Hence I went with the nasi lemak set instead. Our sets cost us RM10 each, which came with a drink, a soup, main course and dessert (fruits).

The nasi lemak, the rice was yellowish. Reminds me of Hainanese chicken rice. Not quite lemak as I expect. Somehow, the sambal was quite nice. The anchovies were fried till crispy. Probably 1 of the most crispy one I’ve had. PCL can’t stop picking on them, discretely, yet quite obvious. Though I didn’t finish up all the anchovies, as nasi lemak always remind me of my strict diet. Something which I’ve failed to observe over the time…

This is my 5th time visiting this place, but only this time I brought along my camera. The first time I came was brought by AC. He recommended me the taro balls (yam flavoured glutinous rice ball). He likes the chewy texture of it. So far, I’ve tried the Snowflake Bestseller, Soya ice set and Taro ball set. Soya ice set comes with shaved ice made with soya bean, while Taro ball set was soaked in sugar syrup, very sweet.

Anyway, I preferred best seller because it has the combinations of the 3 sets, which is grass jelly, taro balls and soya bean based ice. Then it was simmered with grass jelly syrup, which has herbs flavour in it. I preferred the grass jelly syrup cause it’s not too sweet.

EDIT: AT said the best seller is not soya based ice. So I guess it’s only combination of 2 sets.

Today, I came to Restoran Hao Wei Dao with my colleague again. The variety of choices on the menu ease us on deciding the kind of food that we wanted to have, aside from the usual places that we frequent. There is still a long journey ahead in order to try every single item on the menu.

This time, the drink wasn’t too sweet or food weren’t too salty. It was just right. I guess they must have received complains from patrons. The marmite chicken rice was quite nice, though it was really watery. Some people prefer the drier type, but it was ok for me. It even has the hint of marmite in it, the bitterness. Unlike most of the marmite dish I had, they were just sweet.
