I wanted to have another round of Nyonya fried noodle at Restoran Kwai Sun again, but TSL insisted on having Esquire Kitchen. She said I needed to have soup because of my health conditions and my strict diet. And here we were, at Esquire Kitchen, unwillingly.

Firstly, the drink. It was a bit of sour yet it was rather too sweet at the same time it tasted bitter. I could taste Chinese herb roots (羊參鬚) in it though. The old cucumber soup was quite nice albeit a little too oily. As I drink it, it tasted saltier and saltier, somehow. There were plenty of pork inside the soup though. For only RM3.80, I think it’s quite worth it.

I was very hungry, so I suggested that we get a zongzi (糭子) as appetizer first. My last experience on the zongzi here was a good one. I remember it was rather nice although it was RM8 each, back then. This one was rather nice too. Had a little bit of the yolk but I can’t have the meat though. The glutinous rice was a bit on the salty side. Fortunately, they were enjoying it.

The gai lan was oily but adequately tasty. A tad on salty side though and probably plenty of MSG as well? The fish fillets with celery was nice. I mean, the celery soaking in the sauce was nice. I can’t have the fish, so I can only indulge myself with the vege on the dish and the sauce, which probably not fit for my strict diet.

The malat bean curd was acceptable. I expected it to be salty but instead, it was a little sweet. Finally, the sour and spicy soup. According to WWS, it was flour soup soaked in vinegar. Well, I can’t really have vinegar, so I had about 2 sips then I had to stop. Not only it wasn’t good for my diet, but the soup was kinda sucks.
