My sister’s friend bought us dinner today. She recommended the grilled lamb, which was quite famous around her area there. I’ve heard of such grilled lamb before, but not too sure if it was in Klang. I’ve heard that grilled lamb is nice and I’m a sucker for lamb too. Hence we proceed with the place. While we were travelling there, I tried to look for “grill” keyword on my GPS and found Hing Ket.

Upon reaching the place, I realised there is another grill house right next door. But we ended up with Hing Ket, as it was POI in the GPS and it has an * on the name, which denotes it’s good.

Firstly, the fried rice was humongous in portion. I was surprised and almost fell off my chair just by the size of it. I guess it was made to feed 5 adults as there were 5 of us adults and my niece. The taste was so-so only though and lacked of wok hei (鑊氣). I-wouldn’t-want-another-bowl the kind of fried rice. My jalapeno in soya sauce doesn’t taste good either, so I had hard time swallowing those fried rice.

Then the fried oysters omelette was rather disappointing. The last of its kind that I’ve had was pretty good. The oysters here were overcooked and dried. The omelette part of it was dried and a tad crispy too. I was expecting soft moist omelette with medium rare or raw oyster with explosively innards. I was ended up chewing bubble gum instead.

Next, the grilled squids. I was reluctant to have it as it goes strongly against my strict diet. Unfortunately, I was succumbed to the good looks of it, ended up I had a few pieces too many of it. Despite the looks, it was rather tasteless actually. It’s alright since it’s not seasoned with anything except the reddish sauce. But it also lacked the great fragrance that squids let out when they were grilled or fried. Which was kind of, disappointing for a squid lover whom can’t have too many squids, like me.

When the grilled lamb was served, the lamb smell filled the area. I kinda like how the mild fragrance let out from the meat itself. When I had the first piece, it was totally awesome. Nicely marinated, not too much salty stuff. Despite it was well done (there were no traces of blood in it), the meat wasn’t sinewy at all. Just right and chew able. The previous 2 items no longer falter my impression dining here, all thanks to the great lamb. Definitely a must have.

After a while, the grilled stingray was served. It looked pretty normal, except it was cut in checkered box shape. The top layer of sauce was lightly taste, while it doesn’t overwhelm the original fish meat’s taste. After a few scoops of it, I realised that the fish was grilled to perfection. It was not overcooked nor it is raw. It was just right at the borderline where most of the moisture in the meat was retained, yet not sticky and smelly if it’s too raw.

Finally, the crabs were served. It seemed to me the crab was not prepared prior to sending to the hot grilles. Our host guessed that the crabs were dabbed with oil while it was being grilled. I was expecting grilled crabs similar to Seremban’s grilled crabs. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as tasty as what I expected and it was just plain grilling. Something which you could do with a BBQ grill if you managed to start the fire. Anyway, I managed to wallop a shell with plenty of roe in it. It was juicy, just like how a grilled crab should be. So, no complain there.
