TSW called me earlier today during lunch that he’d want to ask me out for yumcha tonight, together with ANYK. I agreed with him that we’d meet tentatively at 9pm. Destination still unset.

Until later, he reconfirmed with me that his wife LLP would be joining and he was hungry as well, after the light dinner earlier. I suggested Asia Cafe, because he wanted to eat and hopefully there are going to be a lot of varieties.

The place, as usual, was super jammed. TSW had to park at a roadside by the curb, which was parked by a Kancil earlier. Similar car, wouldn’t be too difficult for him. Fortunately, there were still plenty of tables for us. This was probably my first time ever taking photographs of the stuff I eat in Asia Cafe. Due to its dark environment, it was a pretty difficult job.

As usual, I ordered watermelon juice (or drink, the fact that it might not be pure watermelon juice). Every time I was here, when it’s time to order drinks, I remember what EL told me. He said, “the watermelon juice here is the best compared to other places. It has the most watermelon in it, rather than diluted watermelon juice.” Hence, without fail, I would definitely order watermelon juice. Besides, I kinda like watermelon too.

The fried kuey teow I had, it was a bit sourish. At first bite, it wasn’t that good. After a few more bites, it actually tasted not bad. There were prawns as well, probably 2 of them. Some cockles, which were too cooked, a little too dry. This kuey teow stall opens from 5pm till 5am. So, if I’m ever going to feel hungry at 3am, perhaps I might drive here for late supper / early breakfast.

I went to order my favourite fried mushrooms too. It was the first thing I ever tasted the 1st time I came to Asia Cafe eons ago. It has been my favourite since then. I still remembered the chili sauce given was so spicy, yet I couldn’t stop dipping my mushrooms into it. It’s like how moths keep flying into flames despite knowing that it might get them killed. Anyhow, this time the chili sauce isn’t as spicy anymore. But it still tasted good though.

Finally, the 500g grilled stingray with Portuguese style sauce. It looked good at first, with all the sliced lady’s finger. After eating it, the sauce was running short. There was another side of the stringray that we had to finish. Ended up, I had to eat it plainly. Unlike the grilled stingray from Millennium 86, where the guy cut out the other side of the fish and laid it beside. So we don’t have to do all the hardwork. Anyway, there are many other grilled fish stalls to try from. Perhaps another one next time.
