Gar’sua Guava

I bought 2 big packs of this Gar’sua Guava from Tesco. Since I’ve been a sucker for guavas, I won’t even let go of dried guava, even if it’s not laden with sour plum powder.

… sweetened dried guava is anytime better than fresh powdery guava.

Rating: 6.5/10

It’s not exactly the cheapest light snack you can buy, but it definitely keeps you chewing on it non-stop. I hope it’s a healthy snack and doesn’t deteriorate the body if taken in large dosage.

I’m familiar with this product and the guava’s pretty healthy. What you have to understand is that it’s not *dried* guava as much as it’s pressurized de-liquified guava. So like, rather than heat the fresh Guava up, they pond it with lots of external pressure, which forces the water out, leaving you with guava that’s not treated in weird chemical ways. It also explains why unlike dried mango and apricots, it tastes a lot more like the original fruit than some sort of candied version of what you find in nature and why it retains so much of guava’s natural vitamin C. The rest of the ingredients are pretty healthy too. I mean, the list is four things long: guava, sugar, salt, and citric acid. The only thing I think most people don’t know off-hand is citric acid, which is an organic acid and natural preservative. So to your question about copious amounts of the stuff doing harm– well, we shouldn’t be eating too much sugar but other than that, it’s pretty healthy as snacks go. Definitely better than most of the stuff you find in the snack section of your local grocer.

Thanks for the information! I learned a lot today. 🙂

*look for the 2nd pack that is still in the reserve*
