... pot of pork, in boiling soup.

Rating: 5/10

This is the second time I visit this place. The last time I came, which introduced by FV, I had my first encounter with pig’s drumstick (細骨). It was really tasty and unique as I never thought bkt would have such type of meat served. It was tender, yet lean, which was my favourite. Unfortunately, for today’s drumstick, the meat was rather dry and hard. It has lost the legacy of being the best type of pork meat for bkt.

... the original chilli pan mee in KL.

The original is still unmatched, albeit it was really spicy. I had only 2 scoops. Should have gone with only 1.

... steamed silver grunter, Thai style.

... chicken fried in special sauce. No idea what was the sauce called.

Rating: 6.5/10

Lunch with DL and YMH. Ordered the usual stuff, but this time we have a steamed silver grunter in Thai style. It was really nice, sourish gravy with plenty of jalapeno which sends you sky rocket into the moon. I will probably keep this in mind for my next visit there when they don’t have stock on cod fish.

... some 3 layered from your friendly pork.

... boil the oil until it is bubbly.

... start deep frying those pork.

... looking good.

... unfortunately, the inside looked raw.

I really don’t want to give it any ratings cause this experience was pretty much failed. Got the recipe from 阿蘇 2nd season. She said (from my best memory):

  • put some salt into some cold water, mix it until the salt dissolved.
  • add some garlic into the cold water as well.
  • soak the raw pork into the cold water for like 5 – 10 minutes.
  • take out the porky and wrap it dry with a piece of dry cloth. It has to be very dry in order to avoid armageddon when try to fry it.
  • boil oil until hot and dancing bubbles are seen.
  • put the salty garlicky porky into the oil and fry.
Here comes the interesting part:
  • leave the pork in the oil and close the pan.
  • lift the pan a little to let the air out.
  • when the explosions subsided over time, open it a little and shakes some water droplets into the wok. QUICKLY shut the lid and let the explosions continue.
  • repeat the steps above until the porky meat looks nice, like a piece of golden bar.
Guess what? The inside was quite cold.
CRAP!

What a way to celebrate the US independence.

... rice with egg, okra, lamb, fried squids.

Rating: 6.5/10

My sister brought me here for late lunch. She said the rice here is very nice, but I forgotten what it was called. The rice was cooked with chicken meats in it. The rice has nice aroma to it with slight hints of spice in it. The fried squids were horrible, while the muttons were acceptable. Fortunately, the curry sauce was quite good.

Unfortunately, the staff there was very pushy and keep putting stuff on my place, I had to order him to remove them, harshly.

PG was enjoying the view of The Curve Boulevard yesterday when we were at Italiannies. He wanted to experience the same thing again today, hence we went next door of Italiannies, the brother company, TGI Friday’s. PG ordered the ribs while I picked the appetizer.

The appetizer was quite good, though the price was not cheap. While the ribs was interesting, but it was a bit charred/dried. Anyway, I’ve never had beef ribs for eons, I guess once a while makes no harm to my strict diet. The dessert was very sweet though. I thought I could substitute Chili’s molten chocolate cake with this brownies, but I guess I was wrong. Both of use could barely finish it.

... fish head soup with vermicelli.

... look at the size of the bowl compared to the saucer of condiment.

... there were more bones than meat.

Rating: 4/10

PG’s cravings for fish noodle still remains, hence today he suggested to try the one in Salak South. The size of the noodle was huge, and first impression was that there were plenty of fish pieces on the bowl. Though the taste was mediocre, unfortunately the fish meat has quite heavy muddy taste. Aside from that, there were way too many bones in it.

... this fruits rojak was quite delicious. A rarity in Klang Valley.

Rating: 6.5/10

Fortunately, our dessert was quite good. I’ve never had such good tasting fruits rojak for a while, especially in KV area. The paste was not as thick as usual, but it has the kind of deep taste which can’t be found from most fruits rojak. I would want to have this again, but unfortunately it’s just too far from my place.

Today, CTSW came looking for me for lunch. Since we don’t have anything to do, so I recommended that we head on to KL and have lunch in the foot court at Lot10. This time around, I get to try out the BKT, at last.

... a place not suited for certain ethnic of people.

... the bak kut teh looks delicious. I wonder how's the taste.

Rating: 8/10

Though I don’t really fancy Klang’s BKT, but this particular Mao San Gao (毛山稿) BKT really changed my mind. It tasted really really good. The soup was thick and black, with quite heavy scent of herbs, which I’ve never tasted before from Klang’s BKT. The meat was tender and the guy was nice enough to pick the leanest piece of meat for me. As such request was usually turned down. This BKT cost me around RM16 for a bowl of rice and a bowl of meat and soup. Steep, but it was really. I will definitely have this again when I’m back to Lot10 again for meals.

... suddenly I felt like eating bubur cha cha when I saw the picture on a stall. But this was lacking in sugar and coconut milk. Rather runny.

Rating: 3/10

Despite its look, this dessert tasted quite bad. Now I really wonder, did their quality dropped or the owner of the food court liked the plain runny taste of Bubur Cha Cha? Definitely not to my liking. It was quite runny as if they’ve mixed a lot of water in it to make a few more bowls to earn the quick bucks. Stay away from the dessert stall.

... this oysters omelette was so-so only.

Rating: 5/10

The oysters omelette was just mediocre, nothing to shout about. Though it was better than the one I had in HK, which was smaller and cost more than this.

On the very same day for dinner, I had the same Mao San Gao BKT again, at the Bandar Puteri Puchong’s outlet. Unfortunately, it doesn’t taste as good as the 1 I had in Lot10, though the price was cheaper. It lacks the herb flavour in it which I preferred.

... Win Soon noodle house in Kuchai Lama.

... honey sea coconut.

... vegetable in oyster sauce.

... fish head soup with vermicelli.

Rating: 6.5/10

PG told me that he has been craving for fish head noodles lately. I do not know why was that. My only guess was probably because he hasn’t been having “women” for quite some time. I guess having fish head noodle is healthier than the other type of meat. So today he planned to bring me to OUG for a fish head noodle, which he spotted some time ago. Unfortunately, when we were there at the market place, the stall was not opened, hence we had to adjourn to somewhere else. We went to the Win Soon shop in Kuchai Lama. He said this place wasn’t bad either, just a bit costly.

This was probably the best tasting fish head noodle I’ve ever had. Not that I had a lot of fish head noodle in my life, nor do I fancy it. But the soup just taste good, and the fried fish cutlets were good too. Aside from the higher price tag, which I don’t really mind much, this was a good place to visit, once in a while. Besides, the location was quite far from my reach, which might hinder my frequency of visits.
