The last time we came here, the place was sold out. This time we were here a lot earlier. It was DL’s 3rd attempt though, after 2 failures.

While waiting for DL to park his car and order for food, these are the eye candies from the place.

... Old Master Q (老夫子) as mural for the washrooms. Classic!

... wine rack? Not really, but rather empty bottles.

... instead of leaving business cards, they keep umbrellas.

Now, the good stuff begins…

... zhup fan? This was nice, the taste was just right.

... pot of gold, basically formed with seafood of various species.

... I call this the mommy's fried egg.

... finally, a dish which the place was meant for, BBQ grilled lamb.

... it looked like a slice from a roasted duck.

... the leftover soup from pot of seafood was turned into a vegetable mushrooms soup.

And all good stuffs come at a price…

... fried chicken, highly recommended by DL.

... stir fried Maggi noodles.

Rating: 5/10

Running out of stuff to eat, DL brought us to his regular hangout place. He said it’s a low cost dinner and the fried chicken was nice. To me, the fried chicken was fresh, freshly fried. Which also means that it was soaked in cooking oil and animal fats. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the kind of chicken that I like. I would still vouch for the ayam goreng sempalit at DoReMi.

... 4 different flavours of pork sausages.

... mixed pork platter.

Rating: 6/10

There were 4 flavoured sausages on that grilled sausage plater. They were quite nice cause they don’t have that kind of pungent smell from other pork sausages that I had. As for the mixed platter, the pork belly was acceptable cause the fats were not to thick. My piece of pork rib was easy to manage cause the meat fall off the rib bone easily, while EL’s piece was very stubborn though.

... set meal at ChicKing, fast food for less than RM10.

Rating: 6/10

An acceptable dinner per pax, with rather healthier taste, or how I felt, to conventional fast food fried chicken. First time there with ALGJ, after KLIMS 2010. Been wanting more ever since.

... the famous grilled fish in Petaling Street.

... smells damn good, worth the wait.

... smells good too and the squids actually tasted salty. Very nice!

Rating: 7.5/10

The grilled fish and squids were really good. Though the wait was really long, if you can stand it. Took us around 1 hour to have our grilled seafood served.

... a famous Hokkien styled noodle in Petaling Street, with snobbish and fucked up staffs.

Rating: 2/10

The Hokkien Mee was acceptable only, nothing to shout about. But you do really get shouted at if you didn’t order enough while waiting for grilled fish at their tables. So ended up, they chased you away to the grilled fish tables area. If only they would pay more attention at cooking the food than scrutinizing which customers to stay or leave, it would have been a much more better food tasting experience.

Yeah, UP YOURS. Your Fukking Mee don’t taste that great to permits you to shout at customers.

... arrived at dinner place, finally.

... forgotten what fish we had. I was busy with my new phone.

... curry wild boar meat. I was still busy with my new phone.

... recommended pork cutlets with yam (胡桃扣肉). I was too busy with my new phone.

... some vege with plenty of leftovers. I wasn't really that busy with my new phone, but the vege was not nice at all.

... mushrooms with fishballs. Tasted not bad actually, especially the sauce. Finally not busy with phone, cause ...

… my phone ran out of battery. :P

Another secret was … (more…)

... complimentary bread with olive oil and vinegar.

... bottomless iced lemon tea.

... it was so long ago since I last had stuffed mushrooms.

... close up on the stuffed mushroom.

... recommended this prawn aglio olio to PG for his 1st time.

Rating: 6.5/10

I found out from PG that he has never tried Italiannies’ Aglio Olio pasta before, hence I suggested that we go there for early dinner. It’s been a while since I last had pasta there as well. This time, I ordered my favourite stuffed mushrooms as well. I wasn’t sure if it was because I never had stuffed mushrooms for too long, I find that the taste was different, just wasn’t as good as the 1st few times I had it.

As for the pasta, PG was very satisfied with it. He said he never expected it to be that good. I was very satisfied with the pasta as well, as it was consistent all of the time I patronise Italiannies.

... vegetable.

... stir fried vermicelli with little clams.

... squids cooked in 2 flavours. Deep fried squids and my favourite fried little squids.

... 2 XL sized crabs cooked in 2 flavours.

Rating: 8/10

This is the place that I’ve been wanting to come very often, and at the same time, would like to introduce it to my fellow friends and colleagues. Because this is a seafood place that worth every penny. This time around, I brought along ALGJ and MSF. MSF said she wouldn’t have join us if it wasn’t for my birthday celebration. It was because Jinjang is just so far away from our office. The time we took to reach here was more than 1 hour, due to the after office hours jam.

As usual, the fried little squids that I won’t miss, while MSF said she has been craving for crabs all this long. Hence we ordered 2 XL sized crabs. A sweet and sour flavour and baked style. The crabs were magnificent because the size of the pincers were about the size of my palm. Sweet and sour flavoured crab was not a simple dish to make. So far, I haven’t had a good sweet and sour crab in KV before. The last best one was from my home town, which I think the place has closed down. Now, I have finally found a sweet and sour crab which I could put in my mouth. Not that I’m biased, but it was really good. As for the baked crab, it was very salty though, similar to what I had in Seremban.

Fortunately, both of them were quite satisfied with the food and find that the bill was reasonable. Before we left the place, MSF said she has to come again for crabs next time. Generally, all the food we had for the evening were quite good. This place has never disappoint me so far.

... my favourite grilled lamb shoulder from Chili's.

Rating: 6.5/10

We ended our day with the last meal at Chili’s Bar and Grill. I told PG that the last time I had lamb shoulder in Chili’s was great. Probably the best I could find in town as Friday’s has forsaken their classic grilled lamb. Hence we ordered a grilled lamb shoulder for the each of us. To my amazement, the portion was quite big for mere lamb shoulder as the last time I had them, the portion was about 2/3 of what I was getting today. I was guessing it could be due to the new opening of this particular outlet in Empire Shopping Gallery. Anyway, the grilled lamb was fantastic until the last bit, but a tad too salty though. In the end, I still couldn’t manage to finish everything on the plate. I was left with some mashed potato, while PG was managed to lick his clean.

... hot plate bean curd. It has the best tasting sauce ever!

... pork stir fried with bitter gourd in thick soya bean sauce. A tad too salty, but it's different from what I usually have.

... sour vegetables soup, pretty normal.

... stir fried water spinach in belacan.

Rating: 7/10

This was a place recommended by a fellow friend whom home town is in Kluang, if we got the place correct from his ad-lib instructions to the location. We haven’t had anything for lunch since we departed from Tioman island, all the way drive from Mersing to Kluang. This late lunch has turned into a dinner instead.

As I stated above, the sauce from the hotplate bean curd was excellent. Those weren’t sauce per se, it was more like the mixed substance of cooked oil with ingredients which leak out from your food when you grilled them hard. In another word, the ESSENCE of the food! Just great! I wished I could find something similar back in KV. I wasn’t good with bitter gourd, as I don’t like the bitterness in them. Nevertheless, this plate of stir fried pork with bitter gourd was quite good. Bitter gourd wasn’t too bitter and the pork was nice. Though the chef was a little heavy handed, it was a tad too salty, but would be perfect if you had them with rice. While the soup and water spinach was just ordinary.

Couldn’t remember how much was the dinner, but it was a good one, aside from us being too hungry from skipping our lunch.
