I saw the O’Briens promotion on my Facebook, stating that any sandwich will only cost RM10. But the promotion only available in Sunway Pyramid outlet. I would’ve gone there myself, if AC didn’t buzz me on MSN. Hence we share the private moment together, while EL was sleeping like pig until 4pm, then only reply to my SMS. We had the most expensive sandwich on the menu, of course. Afraid that we might miss such opportunity again.

... a RM17.50 now cost only RM10.00.

... banana, carrot, apple and orange juice mix. Drink till you split.
Rating: 6/10
I had the O’Brien’s Chicken Tripledecker, while AC ordered the O’Brien’s Crambo Club. Somehow, we were both served with the same Chicken Tripledecker sandwich. I guess the lady took the wrong order. The sandwich was thick because it has 3 slices of bread on it. 1 piece of very crispy chicken crisp, which was quite dry, but salty. Very nice indeed. Then there were chicken cutlets with melted cheese holding them to the bread. On the bottom layer, things were falling apart because the vegetable and coleslaw can’t hold them together. Hence stuff got really messy in the end.
My banana refresher was quite a refreshment. Usually, I was a bit wary of banana drink as I wouldn’t know how it would turns out. Fortunately, it wasn’t too thick, not like some banana shake or smoothies. The carrot and apple’s flavours were almost non-existence though. Mainly dominated by banana and orange.

Went to Ajisen Ramen in Sunway Pyramid with the ladies. AT told me that Ajisen is having a promotion on 2nd bowl of ramen for RM1 with T&C applies. The ladies were ok with the idea despite it’s in Sunway Pyramid. Despite the lacked of available parking space, I managed to slot into a makeshift parking space.

... cold green tea.

... my fish fillet ramen.

... ALGJ's spicy beef ramen.

... LGFL's Peking duck ramen.

... KUMA's spicy duck ramen.
Rating: 5/10
Most of my fish fillet went to the ladies. There was nothing to shout about on the ramen. The soup was normal. Still, the tom yam or the volcano ramen has better soup base. I wanted to order the hot plate ramen. Unfortunately, I was told that those aren’t ramen, it’s hot plate. To me, it’s still served with ramen. But the waiter insisted that it’s hot plate. Gosh, who are gonna eat hot plate, literally? So, we were left with soup based ramen.
Then, the RM1 for 2nd bowl of ramen is for the cheaper priced ramen amongst the 2 bowls. Since we were having 2 duck ramen, which cost RM20 and RM21, only the cheaper ones like my fish fillet ramen and spicy beef ramen get the RM1 price tag. I was thinking that I’d want to split the bill, but the guy insisted that we can’t do that, despite we were occupying 2 separate tables. How lame was that? Even Nando’s allowed me to split bill.
Anyway, our bill came up to RM60 inclusive of all the taxes, which kinda surprised me even with the almost 50% off the bill kind of promotion.

Went to Tai Thong with ALGJ, LGFL, TSL and WWS. I heard they said Tai Thong is having promotions on their dim sum, hence I agreed to go along. I guess I’ll just exempt from my strict diet for my lunch, and continue later during my dinner.

... these steamed peanuts were good. Soft, tasty and juicy. I wonder if they were once soaked in soya sauce.

... these fried bean curd skin prawn rolls were really nice, served with custard as condiment too.

... my last experience with Tai Thong's egg tarts was a good one, so I definitely won't give it a miss this time.

... the inside of the egg custard looked so yellowish.

... these sesame balls, or "jin dui" (煎堆) were filled with lotus paste.

... these yam dumplings looked nice.

... pan fried carrot cakes.

... I didn't touch these BBQ pork buns at all.

... too bad, these steamed bean curd skin doesn't contain prawns in it.

... the crazy women ordered 2 baskets of these siew mai.

... the chicken feet looked tasty. I would have had it if I wasn't on strict diet.

... the glutinous rice in this was quite nice, but not on the inside part, which was very soft.
Rating: 5.5/10
Other than the super steamed steamed peanuts and fried bean curd prawn roll, there were nothing else worth noting. The glutinous rice was nice too but the inside was too soft. The one I had in Foh San was much better. The steamed bean curd skin was really bad. It has nothing but just the bean curd skin rolled up. Yam dumpling looked good, but tasted otherwise. Lacked of any yam taste in it and I could barely make out what’s in the content. Siew mai was nothing to shout about. The mini egg tarts were rather disappointing. I guess they has butter in the egg custard because it tasted like so and the colour was very yellowish. Carrot cake was still ok. Didn’t touch the BBQ bun as I knew it probably tasted bad. TSL tried it and she can’t even finish 1/2 a bun. I guess that’s evident enough that the BBQ pork buns were bad.
With the 20% and 50% discounts, the bill came up to RM84+ for the 5 of us. The prices on the list seemed marked up before they were given discount. Anyway, Tai Thong was probably that expensive when it comes to dim sum.

I suggested Hao Wei Dao to PCL as we haven’t been there for quite some time already. But there was a surprised for us. We were offered 2 little tags and it has number on it. We were told that we could order the egg fried rice for only RM1 each, with the available tags. The tags only offered for the first 20 customers everyday.
Since we can’t think of anything to order and the fried rice was acceptable for my strict diet, we went ahead with the order.

... iced seacoconut. Very sweeeeet.

... yes, no kidding. This was only for RM1.
Rating: 5/10
The fried rice was pretty tasteless. I can’t believe that I could finish it. All thanks to the jalapeno that I get. The rice was not hot and doesn’t give out any nice fragrance like most fried rice. Anyhow, for only RM1 each, I guess I can’t really complain, can I?

Today, the ladies said gotta go somewhere nice to celebrate NAP’s farewell. At first I suggested either Dragon-i or Canton-i, but NAP (no, he has got nothing to do with slumber) just had them like a couple of days ago straight. When we were on the way there, TSL suddenly thought of the Pasta de Gohan’s clam soup pasta she saw in a food magazine in my car. Then we decided to give Pasts de Gohan a try.

... Pasta de Gohan, if I'm not mistaken, it means pasta and rice.

... this scallop & prawn pizza was my idea. Abundance of cheese.

... this complimentary soup was for TSL's clam soup pasta.

... delicious looking clam soup pasta.

... NAP's Prawn Pilaf.

... NAP's Wafu Chicken & Mushroom. Very oily stuff, another lip gloss incident.

... KUMA's Potato Salad Toast.

... KUMA's Potato & Bacon Cream fettucine.

... a good thirst quencher?

... decided to give the curry chicken rice a try.

... my Wafu Al Aglio Olio. I still can't figure out what does "wafu" means, even after the meal.

... my aglio olio with extra ingredients.

... someone left this Neapolitan spaghetti on my side of the table.
Rating: 6/10
I start off with the clam and prawn pizza. It was pretty nice actually with super thin crust with good fragrance from the cheese. The prawns was fresh and crunchy while the scallops were big. I could eat it plainly with only cheese on top of it. But this piece of UFO cost RM28.80.
I had a sipped of TSL’s clam soup pasta, it was quite nice, a little bit of sweetness of the clams. It’s kinda special too, one of its kind. The last time I tried vongole spaghetti was more than 6 months ago. That vongole spaghetti was very different from this 1 though. This also came with a complimentary soup, which tasted a little like miso soup with plenty of seaweed in it. But for RM24.80 for plain spaghetti and clams, that’s very expensive.
Then I had a bite on NAP’s Wafu Chicken & Mushroom. It was pretty ok, just a tad too oily. I wondered whether those was from the olive oil or some other stuff. It sorta made me feel a bit full though. Never had a chance to try his prawn pilaf though, cause it was like chaos there, for 7 people to sit in a long table having plates flying here and there where hygiene was placed at lowest priority.
Then there’s KUMA’s potato salad toast, which looked really nice and her Potato & Bacon cream. Unfortunately, those bacons weren’t pork, they were beef. So I didn’t bother to give it a try. Suddenly, I missed my Popai the Potato so much.
Finally, on the stuff that I ordered. The RM4.80 canned ginger ale was very costly. The lunch set chicken curry rice with wafu al aglio olio cost me RM18.80. It sounded a lot cheaper than TSL’s clam soup spaghetti. I guess reason being this is the kind of items that rarely interest the patrons, so they decided to put them up for promotion. Fortunately, despite being a plain spaghetti, the taste was still acceptable. But it tasted much better after I put in extra chili powder and grind the pepper in. The curry was sweet as expected, nothing to shout about. The rice used was genuine Japanese rice that I had from ordering curry chicken rice from Japanese restaurant. So, no lacking of ingredients here.
The rest of the stuff I didn’t bother to snap because our table has no more space to sort stuff around. But I was given a plate of Neopolitan to try. It was… not that good. That’s why I never like ordering spaghetti in tomato sauce.
The bill for the lunch cost us RM230.10 for 7 pax. Averaging at around RM33 per pax. Overall, lunch was pretty nice, but the pricing was crazy. The food weren’t exactly Japanese except for a few items as pasta is western while most of the stuff on their menu was consists of pasta. There were many other stuff on the menu as well, such as parfait. It’s another place which is common like PHOP, where you’d need months to try out everything on the menu.
The place was not exactly comfortable and the lighting was pretty bad too. The shop was quite small and the air conditioning was bad. TSL was practically sweating throughout the time, for a person that rarely sweat even if we eat under hot roof. Go figure…

Went to Subang Parade for lunch with TSL and WWS today. Fortunately, I remembered reading my credit card statement that Nando’s is having promotion with Maybank’s credit card. I asked the waiter there to double confirm it as I don’t recall exactly when’s the expiry date. All I remembered was that I had to show my card to them before ordering.
Soon, he came back saying that we could get the 2nd 1/4 chicken with 2 sidelines at 50% off. Anyway, with or without the promotion, we were still gonna be ordering 1/4 chicken with 2 sidelines each.

... first time I see from Nando's Chickenland.

... will they ever call me if my commented badly on their food?

... I've forgotten that I should have ordered the sparkling apple instead of bottomless iced lemon tea.

... my hot peri-peri 1/4 chicken with 2 sidelines.

... all that's left were the bones.
Rating: 4.5/10
I guess this was probably the lowest rating I’ve ever given to Nando’s. What happened dude (or dudette if Nando’s was a chick)? I get pretty charred chicken. I don’t mind a little charred, but my chicken was practically dried up, it sorta shrank. The meat was harder than usual and pretty tasteless too. I had the chicken breast though, but I did have better ones in Nando’s before. So it’s definitely not my problem for choosing the breast part. I’ve always prefer the breast. I know it was pretty crowded today in Nando’s, but that’s not an excuse for the drop in quality.
Aside from that, I asked for Peri Chips and coleslaws, but I was presented with Old Style Chips instead. I told the waiter, “I asked for Peri Chips.” Guess what’s his response? “This is Peri Chips.” I can’t believe it, he must be new there. Then I told him, “No, this is not Peri Chips.” He was a bit dumbfounded, but still insisted on that was Peri Chips. I can’t believe it, doesn’t he understand the phrase, “customer always right?” Then I was too tired to explain further, I told him straight in the face, “go over there and sprinkle the POWDER!” And he skedaddled over to the kitchen counter to get my chips powdered. Finally, he’s able to understand what I meant by Peri Chips. Nando’s Chickenland should have paid me for giving trainings the staff.
Gee, what’s eating you Nando’s?

Last week, we came here to lunch upon recommendations by ALGJ. I never had any good impressions on San Francisco SteakHouse all this while because of my bad previous encounters. This time around, they are having set meal promotions for only RM16.90++. It has a main course, a soup and a bottomless soft drink of your choice (only 2 actually, Coke or 7Up). There are only 2 choices of main course each day for 7 days a week, from 12pm till 7pm.
So, we came here again this time, with more people. Actually KUMA was interested, hence we brought her along.

... complimentary breads were given while we waited for our food.

... we've had the escargot here before and it was very delicious. We just had to have it again this time, especially TSL. She loves it.

... digging out those escargot. Those garlic butter sauce, it's amazing!

... close up of the little critter. To human, everything is edible, even spineless bugs.

... this tomato soup is part of the lunch package meal.

... today's lunch meal is grilled lamb chop and chicken chop. I had the lamb chop, of course.
Rating: 6/10
No complains on the escargots. This time, I suck up every ounce of the garlic butter sauce with the complimentary bread. It was so delicious and I feel more hungry the more I had. I think I could have it all day long. My grilled lamb chop was very nice. For the price I’m paying, there really isn’t anything to complain. It’s even cheaper than having a complete meal at Nando’s!

Tonight I had dinner with HL, EL and AN, again in Taipan. I suggested Agefuku for fun and EL agreed on it immediately as if his life depending on the food from Agefuku.

... unagi don for RM15. The set with a drink and a miso soup for additional RM3.

... side order for RM5.
Rating: 5/10
The last time I visited Agefuku, I had the same unagi don set, but it was RM3 less than what I paid today. I can no longer call this the cheapest unagi don in town. The agadeshi tofu sauce was very sweet. I guess that was how it should be. Miso soup was salty, but nicer than that from Tomoe.
Currently, Agefuku is running a promotion. For every RM20 of purchase in a single receipt, customer is eligible for 1 ang pao lucky draw. Both me and HL got a pink paper, meaning there’s nothing in it that worth anything or any redemption. The cashier told us that tomorrow they are lowering the limit to RM10 per ang pao draw. I should have come tomorrow instead.

I was told about the new western food stall in DoReMi. I finally got the time to give it a try. The boss was recommending the Maryland chicken chop as he was selling it at a discounted price.

... this Maryland chicken chop was given a discount price, hence I decided to give it a try.

... the sausage's innard looks weird.
Rating: 1/10
The fries were quite good as well as the egg. The baked beans were right at how they should be. Unfortunately, it would be my last time eating from this stall. The sausages tasted weird and the black pepper sauce used tasted very very weird. It was like, engine oil. Not that I’ve tasted engine oil before, but you get the drift. The chicken patty was fried into crisp though. If without the sauce, everything would’ve tasted much more better.

The last time I visited Izzi Pizza, I left with dissatisfaction due to the noisy environment and the mediocre food. I never thought I’d visit the place again until DC found out that there were great discounts for most items on the menu from their website. We wanted to eat the chicken wings which was RM15.80 per plate. I guess it has 4 to 5 pieces per plate, but the price is really steep if without the 65% discount.
Unfortunately, upon looking at the menu then only we realised that the discount for the chicken wings was only available for Citibank credit card customers. Thus we were left with another set of menu with limited number of items which were given 70% discount with a minimum of RM75 of order at pre-discounted price.

... bottomless iced lemon tea, but for a price. It's RM8.90++ each. Giler!

... this wasn't a bad dish, unfortunately the chicken wasn't enough for 4 of us.

... instead of just calling it prawn aglio olio, Izzi decided to give it a lengthy name.

... DC ordered one with chicken. It was super SALTY!

... DC's favourite, a pepperoni pizza.

... we had to have something which has no beef in it, hence NAP gets his share of pizza from Pollo Tropicale.
Rating: 5/10
Without the crazy discount, the place is not worth a visit at all. Don’t even think of entering it as the ambiance was terrible. The lighting was bad and the place was noisy like a market. I don’t understand why there were so many patrons. I guess they were gullible enough to believe that the 70% discount was totally worth it. Do look again, the price was marked up excessively. For that plate of prawn pasta, the original price was RM24.80. Though, after discount it costs only RM8. It was indeed cheap, but do take note that the portion of that pasta was only half of what other places offered. One word, it’s tiny. It tasted quite alright though, despite it was really dry, being an aglio olio.
As for the sweet & sour chicken, it should have been called SALTY & sour chicken instead, with capital SALTY. I couldn’t emphasize enough on how salty it was for something which is called “Sweet & Sour”. The Cambodian Chicken was quite nice with good fragrance. At first I thought DC haven’t had enough of Cambodian stuff during our last trip to Cambodia, which prompted him to order a Cambodian Chicken dish.
