Today EL asked for shopping so that he could buy his CNY clothes. By the time we reach 1Utama, it was already lunch time. While we were unable to decide on what to eat, I suggested Chili’s on a whim. Manatau, EL never had Chili’s before, thus we went on ahead.

Since it was EL’s first time, I suggested to him to try their lamb grill, which was really good. He was eyeing on the ribeye steak instead. But the price for it probably put him off. Besides, I wasn’t hungry at the moment as I had breakfast earlier. So I told him let’s order a main course and something else lighter. Hence the Cajun Club Sandwich came into view.

... I was surprised to find Esprit drinks on the menu. Unfortunately they don't have Passion Fruit. Though it cost less than RM8 excl tax and service charge.

... seeing that we were sharing the main course, I suggested that we order a Cajun Club Sandwich as well.

Our medium rare grilled lamb was rather raw. Though the outside was cooked, but big portion of the meat slab was raw right in the centre. Perhaps I should have opted for 3-quarter done. Somehow, I do recall my medium rare lamb shoulder was perfect. Anyway, despite being raw on the inside, the lamb was quite tasty. Thought it wasn’t as juicy as a ribeye. At the same time, it was quite sinewy. The menu stated that it would be served with black pepper gravy. Somehow, I don’t see any gravy on the plate. Anyway, we can’t finish the slab of meat, which was quite big. Perhaps I should just stick to lamb shoulder next time. The mash potato was excellent. DC gonna love it!

Our sandwich was acceptable. The cheese wasn’t the kind of cheddar slice cheese that you can get from supermarket. It was shaved from a big chunk of cheese slab. The fries were damn nice. Probably the best fries I’ve had in the year.

Chinese New Year is around the corner. I guess Nando’s also can’t missed out on the opportunity to make more money. They introduced the Chick Sang, which was practically similar to the Chinese dish, “low sung” (糅生).

... the Chick Sang (should be pronounced as "sung") doesn't mean the chicken could sing.

Instead of salmon, the meat was replaced with chicken cutlets, which were tinier than the gold you can dig from your nostrils. Pomelo pieces were replaced with orange pieces, which tasted rotten to me. I guess it was mixed with Hot Peri-Peri sauce as well because it was a tad spicy in it. Taste was, it was acceptable to me, but TSL preferred the original Chinese style “low sung”. But I preferred this instead. Or perhaps I’d prefer the original one with Peri-Peri sauce. It was worth a try, but not worth the second coming.

Continue to the aftermath . . .

... raspberry & cranberry sparkling fruit juice.

... aglio olio spaghetti with grilled prawns.

... organic chicken which cost RM78 and it wasn't even a turkey!

... the stuffing made with potato, shredded, which tasted like rice.

... pizza with hams and smoked chicken slices.

Rating: 6/10

EL invited me over for the final dinner in 2009. I suggested Bumbu Bali at first then he said he would rather have Uno Pizza instead. Hence we met in Uno Pizza for dinner immediately. The menu was streamlined because the ala carte menu was not available for festive seasons.

The sparkling juice I had cost RM9. I saw there was passion fruit juice, which is not sparkling. Unfortunately, they don’t have the sparkling one like Esprit. The aglio olio spaghetti was acceptable with mild spiciness. But it was a tad too oily to my liking. The grilled prawns was nice though, though the prawn could’ve been fresher. There were 3 huge prawns just right for the 3 of us. It cost RM30 and I guess each prawn cost close to RM10 each? lol

The organic chicken was overrated. Though it was nice, least of fat but it cost RM78, which is rather too much. It comes with a sauce. The sauce was so nice that it made the chicken nice too. If not for the sauce, I guess the chicken would just be rather normal. The stuffing were rather special though as it tasted like rice.

Finally we had a pizza as EL was saying the more he ate, the hungrier he got. We ordered the Tropicana pizza which has pineapples cutlets which were rather sweet, ham and smoked chicken. The pizza was ok, but not that nice though.

... 3 pork burgers in different flavours and pork shurikens.

... my sweet & sour pork burger.

Rating: 4/10

I’ve seen a few blog posts about Ninja Joe and finally I get my chance to try it out. It’s something special as opposed to the rest of the burgers we are getting here because it’s made with pork. Yes, P-O-R-K! It probably unique by itself because it’s something non-halal in a country which promotes halal food as much as possible.

Unfortunately, the uniqueness of the pork burger doesn’t cut it for its taste. I guess I’d rather go for BK’s beef burger or McD’s chicken burgers. I guess it’s because the pork patty was not freshly made. They were prepared very early in the morning, and when the orders came in, they were just soaked in the respective sauces, except for Original, which I guess it comes plain without any flavouring, rather than the original baked patty taste. The pork shurikens were unique in its way too. Tasted like potato nuggets you can get from supermarkets, except this one stuffed with minced pork. Though it wasn’t THAT nice.

... the ranch.

... the guava juice which has more portion of sugar than the guava itself.

... lamb chop which I do not want.

Rating: -10/10

This is probably the WORST place to have western food. If not because we haven’t any choice, we wouldn’t even want to step inside this place. Overpriced, lousy food. The lamb chop was basically tasteless. It was like microwave-tinged food. The only commendable thing was the sweetness in guava. It’s as if the sugar was FOC there. Anyway, the stupid meal cost over RM80 for 2 pax. Overpriced son of a bitch.

Mango Delight

... the last piece of Mango Delight in the counter. Yes, it was leftover from yesterday.

Set Lunch

... ALGJ's set lunch, chicken in BBQ sauce.

Flavoured Latte

... the aptly named flavoured latte. I went with hazelnut syrup.

Rating: 4/10

My Mango Delight cake was a mess when it was delivered to me. Instead of standing by itself, it was laid down sleeping like a lazy pig. What a way to serve your patron their precious slice cake! I had to flip it up to take photo of it, though the cake looked like it was just gutted by a robber. My latte was nothing to complain about, but for RM7.50 each, I prefer something more tasty.

ALGJ’s chicken set looks nice though, especially that sauce. I might have guessed it wrongly, it could’ve been sweet and sour sauce. Unfortunately, she was super hungry today as she cleaned the whole plate, without any leftover for me to try.

Aglio Olio

... aglio olio pasta.

Rating: 0/10

This aglio olio linguine was very spicy and yet it was tasteless. Not salted at all. I was expecting it to be soak in olive oil with plenty of garlic, unfortunately, it was soaked in spicy oil. The only tasteful stuff were those beef bacons. Fortunately, the Extreme Latte was still nice. At least it was nicer than The Ultimate Extreme Mocha from Coffee Bean that I had last night, which was practically tasteless and lacked of coffee fragrance.

Fried Chicken

... Shihlin's boneless fried chicken.

Rating: 5/10

A new outlet of Shihlin opened in IOI Mall’s new wing. AT spotted it from where she sat. If I knew Shihlin was there, I would’ve had it for dinner as I was thinking of having it before looking for EL & AT, but time wouldn’t permit. Perhaps next time I’ll have dinner there instead.

Spaghetti Aglio Olio

... spaghetti aglio olio, as stated on the menu.

Rating: 6.5/10

PG said the aglio olio spaghetti here was not bad. I also spotted it on the menu few nights ago, but always forgot to try it out when I reach DoReMi. So tonight I purposely come and try it out. For an olio costing only RM5, I think it’s pretty decent. Plenty of chopped garlic. Get your gum ready though, cause you’ll be going down 1 stinkin’ path.

After our lunch, we adjourned to our usual favourite place in Solaris.

... Häagen-Dazs Shake of Belgian Chocolate and Macadamia Nuts.

... Häagen-Dazs Shake of Belgian Chocolate and Macadamia Nuts.

Rating: 3/10

It came with a chocolate stick biscuit, which I thought was a straw. It was so thick that my straw could stand on it on and the straw was even being pushed upward by the viscosity of the liquid. I guess I had the wrong choice of mixing Belgian Chocolate with Macadamia Nuts. I was having sore throat drinking this as the Belgian Chocolate was still too strong for my liking. It was very sweet and diabetic. Perhaps I’ll go with Choc Choc Chips next time. But at RM23.90 (excluding taxes) per cup, it’s rather costly I might say.

My bread was toasted till crisp. Hence the darkened colour of the surface. It has seafood and crab sticks laden with mayonnaise.

This post was made specially for EL because he said I didn’t “eat enough” of Subway’s because I said I’d frequent it more often. The fact was, I ate enough but I didn’t post them up as I didn’t take any photos.
