Flavurs, First World Genting

I was going for FIR concert today with my friend, KC. We have about an hour to dine before the show starts. We took a while of walking before we came to this restaurant, which serves Chinese food and not BKT.

... nice and attractive looking menu, a good start for patrons.

The sweet sour chicken was quite nice. My friend’s herbal chicken, the soup was nice and it has a little bitterness to it. Unfortunately, the coffee was straight from vending machine. I would’ve get them from office if I wanted a vending machine’s coffee. Disappointing. Overall, the dinner was fine but like most of the restaurants in Genting Highlands, they are overpriced. This round my friend bought the dinner cause I got him those VIP tickets to the FIR concert.

Face 2 Face, Kuchai Lama

I went to meet my sister at Kuchai Lama to get the FIR concert tickets from her. It was already 2pm when I reached there and I was dead hungry. So I went to the nearby shop and have a quick lunch. She recommended me flat flour noodle at the corner shop, but it was packed with people as it was peaked hour for lunch. So I decided to have a quick one at Face 2 Face, which I saw an outlet in Subang Jaya as well.

The dried curry smells really good, but it tasted mediocre. Though, it got worse and worse as you eat. So I couldn’t finish it, I left about 1/2 of it. The only nice thing there would have to be the FREE Wifi and Siraitia grosvenorii with longan drink.

Sakae Sushi, Subang Parade

My colleague asked me to go for Sakae Sushi for lunch today. Since I’ve never snap any photos on Sakae Sushi before, I agreed to go with her.

... I've never seen the wasabi so full before. The business was bad or the wasabi here just sucks?

... this Rainbow maki looks colourful, just like a rainbow.

... despite a rather premium price tag, the ingredients used was rather plain.

... Salmon Cheese maki. The cheese was really salty, it made the whole piece rather bland.

Despite so little stuff that we ordered, we were quite full by the time we finished our lunch. The special item with prawn on it was really tasty. The prawn was fried to crisp that you could swallow the whole thing. The other muachi-like thing with red bean paste in it was quite tasty as well. Despite the red bean paste was sweet, the strawberry was not rendered sour at all, which was a good combination. It was served cold and made a very good dessert as you don’t usually find dessert in a sushi restaurant, except perhaps for some jellies. My colleague caught me by surprised when she insisted on paying for the meal.

Kansai Japanese Restaurant, NZX

There were 4 of us going for Japanese food at Kansai. Unfortunately, 1 of them being KSP. Anyway, we still need to eat.

... you can't have Japanese sushi without these.

... I felt thirsty and I ordered a serving of miso soup.

... I guess there isn't 1 time I never had this in any of my visits to Kansai.

... Black Dragon maki, unagi on top and soft shell crab on the inside.

... I've got no idea what does the SP means. Subang Parade perhaps? But it's filled with unagi. Practially the unagi was wraping the rice.

As usual, the unagi on the Black Dragon maki was getting smaller and smaller, as if they’ve shrank into oblivion. I remembered the first time I had the Black Dragon maki, the unagi was abundance. It fully covered the top of the rice. Miso soup was just how it should be. Unfortunately, the recommended Hurricane maki was very filling. Mainly because it wasn’t that nice. It was sweet because the outside was fried potato or something, it was sweet. Aside from that, it was costly as hell as well. RM25 for that thing which was not appetizing. We were given a complimentary dish this time. It has only cucumber and salty sauce in it as compared to the complimentary dish we had last time which has some crackers in it.

Essence of Chicken

DC promised to bring his stock of essence of chicken about 2 months ago. Finally, he brought it to office today. It was not the usual Brand’s brand, but of something else.

... first time having it, and it's gonna be the last.

Despite being free, but this free food is definitely not good food. I never thought it tasted so yucky. It doesn’t taste a wee bit like chicken, it was a little bitter, felt oily and purely weird.

Fried BeeHoon

... an alternative to the usual nasi lemak from the stall by Caltex station.

The plain vermicelli was mediocre, but if you add in some nasi lemak sambal, it would be really nice.

Rojak

... cost about RM4.50 with additional crackers.

Rating: 5/10

It was acceptable fruits rojak, at least for within 5km radius from my residence. Unfortunately, the pricing was very inconsistent from this shop. It was quite cheap back then until the lady boss selling economy rice took over the stall. I’d say it’s rather expensive.

Heng Kee Bak Kut Teh, PJ Old Town

This time, aside from my usual kaki ALGJ that joins me for BKT dinner, we called along our Kuma because she wanted to stop by the shop for some junk food.

My colleagues were satisfied with the dinner as it was her first time joining us for BKT. The spare ribs were within what I expected as I don’t usually order them, just the lean meat though. Soup was amazing, as usual. The consistency was good lately as compared with last time. If only I could taste more herbal in the soup, that would be perfect then.

This was like the first time I ever knew there’s dessert from this place. lol.

Daorae Korean BBQ Restaurant, NZX

My colleague heard about my visit to Daorae the other day and she was tempted to give it a try, since it’s only nearby. I thought it was her first time visiting Daorae because of her enthusiasm. I later found out that she actually went to the Taipan outlet a couple of weeks earlier.

The instant noodle boiled in kimchi soup was nice. The soup was especially nice though it was very costly for 2 pieces of instant noodle and some flour made of I-dunno-what-are-they thingy dancing in the soup. My colleagues commented that the one they had in Taipan was much better with fresher pork and thinly sliced. I’ve to give the Taipan’s outlet a try someday to verify that claim. While in the meantime, happy grilling!

Nasi Lemak

I don’t know why, but these few mornings as I woke up, I felt hungry. I’ve been trying to stay away from nasi lemak as much as possible as my blood test wasn’t that optimistic. Anyway, hope this would be the last for the year.

... juicy pack of nasi lemak with a lot of cockles.

The cockles’ sambal was quite nice and they were nicely cooked. Unfortunately for those little creatures, they get cold really fast. I was fortunately enough to be backed with the fried egg which has really runny yolk. I finished the breakfast with the yolk’s aftertaste in my mouth.
